These are rated/sanctioned tournaments and you must belong to the United States Chess Federation (USCF) to participate. USCF Membership is available on-line at www.uschess.org. Please make sure to register as a member of the USCF prior to the tournament.
WE DO NOT process on-site USCF membership at our tournaments.
If you would like more information about the USCF or playing in rated chess tournaments, Please contact us , or better yet, come to a regular club meeting next thursday night.

Time Control: Game/30, Swiss System
Sections: One (Open under 17 years)

Number of Rounds: 4

Sign-In / Pay-up: 9:30am To 9:50am, (you must pre-register)

Start Time: 10:00am

Round Times: 10:00am - following rounds - ASAP (including lunch break)

Prizes: Trophies, based on number of entrants, approximately one trophy for each four entrants.

  • Ties for any non-cash awards/prizes/honors will be decided; 1st The head to head results of the players involved; 2nd Average Opposition; 3rd Solkoff

  • You must Pre-Register
  • WE DO NOT PROCESS ON-SITE USCF MEMBERSHIP
  • All games will be played without rule 14H (Insufficient Losing Chances Claims)
  • No Smoking
  • No Computers
  • Turn off all cell phones (or set to vibrate, and answered outside)

  • Prizes Open Section (1600 and above) $500-250-125 Reserve Section (1400-1599) $250 -125-75 D&E Section (Unrated-1399) $125-100-50. (Based on 20 paid entries per section. First prize in each section guaranteed). El Paso Scholastic City Championship-Trophies
  • USCF membership required at registration (non-scholastic). Membership available at site.
  • Unrated players must play in the Reserve Section or below. Unrated prize limit $125 Balance goes to next players in line

  • A 4 Round Swiss System Tournament (Game/30)
  • Event Site: Monterey High School "New Box", Lubbock, TX

  • Description of Tournament: A USCF rated Individual and Team Scholastic Championship Games are played in five sections: Primary (K-2), Elementary (K-5), Middle School (K-8), High School (K-12) and Novice section K-8 (no USCF membership required).
  • There is a total of 30 minutes maximum per player per game.
  • On-site registration and check in 9am-10:00am. All players must check in by 10:15am.

Round schedule:

  • Round 1 begins at 10:30 am
  • Round 2 begins at 11:45 am
  • Round 3 begins at 1:15 pm
  • Round 4 begins at 2:30 pm

  • Entry Fees: $10 received by 3/14; $15 received by 3/26, or on site $20. A valid USCF membership required in all sections, except Novice K-8. It can be obtained at www.uschess.org or onsite on 3/27 until 10am.
  • Prizes: Trophies for top 5 finishers in each section. Trophies to top 3 school teams in each section.
  • Special valuable chess prizes to the top overall finisher and top girl in each section sponsored by the Susan Polgar Foundation! Team prizes are based on the top 3 individual scores from the same school within the same section. Also special trophy for top Sibling, top Parent/Child and top Coach/Student teams. Prize giving ceremony will be held shortly after the end of the last game which is around 4:00pm.
  • Chess boards and sets will be provided. Bring a chess clock if you have one.

  • 8-13 Players, 3 Prizes, 1st=40%, 2nd=20%, 1st U/1600=15%
  • 14-19 Players, 4 Prizes, 1st=30%, 2nd=20%, 1st U/1600=15%, 2nd U/1600=10%
  • Tournament/Club Expenses & Chess Club Fund - 25%
  • Unrated Players are not eligible for U/1600 prizes, and because of that...
  • All new (as yet unrated in the last suppliment) USCF members have a choice of two options;
